New Server
From JavaWIDE
No fooling - as of April 1, 2010 JavaWIDE is on a new faster server:
- 16GB RAM
- 2.4GHz Quad Core Processor
- 0.5TB RAID Hard Drive
During the transition as the DNS updates, you may notice that you are being redirected to *.fast.javawide.org. This is the temporary new name of the server being used while the DNS entry is updated to the new IP address.
What this means is you may see the word fast appearing in the web address until about April 4, 2010. Just ignore it and everything should work about the same. After April 4, you should no longer see the word fast in the web address of any JavaWIDE site.
Anticipated Temporary Disruptions
Here are some other things you may experience during the transition:
- Login Twice - since there are now two domain names pointing to the exact same site, you may be asked to log in again.
- Concurrent Editing - since there are now two domain names pointing to the exact same site, there are temporarily two separate edit groups. Opening the same document in two places may not engage the concurrent editing if different domain names are used.
- Chat - since there are now two domain names pointing to the exact same site, you may not be able to chat with people connected to the other domain name.
