Welcome to the JavaWIDE webinars page. This is where all webinars will be announced. To prepare for the webinars, make sure your computer has met the technical requirements below.

Technical Requirements

In order to participate, you must have:

1. Java 1.6 or higher

   Click here to detect if you have the right version of Java

   Click here if you need to update your version of Java.

2. Flash Player 9 or higher (webinars only)

   Click here to detect your flash version

   Click here if you need to update your version of Flash.

3. Speakers, earphones or a headset for listening (webinars only)
4. An ability to load JavaWIDE

   Click here to launch JavaWIDE. It should look like the picture on the right.

You might want to have:

• Headset if you want to speak (webinars only)

try not to use a microphone with speakers because it echoes (use earphones instead)

• Webcam if you want face-to-face (webinars only)

You can try out your current computer at the Big Blue Button Demo Site. Just open this in two separate tabs or windows, login (no password required), and try the system out.

Introduction to JavaWIDE

The Java Wiki Integrated Development Environment (JavaWIDE) is a free, online, easy to use IDE that requires no installation and no maintenance, and it comes preloaded with GridWorld & the FANG Engine. JavaWIDE is the only web-based novice IDE that supports real-time group programming in Java.

During this session you will learn how to create interactive examples in class that include student contributed code in real time, and how these examples are automatically posted to the web (including all versions leading up to the present version). You will get to experience simultaneous group coding as all participants edit the same program at the same time, all from remote locations. This session is interactive and hands-on, so come prepared to write some simple programs in JavaWIDE during the session.
